Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the recommendations of the joint contest committee of the North Central Association and the Speech Association of America of 1951 as they pertain to speech practices at the high school level. It attempts to determine to what extent current high school speech contests in the Midwest conform to these recommendations.
