Abstract
The purpose of this study is to collect, organize, categorize, compare, and summarize the objectives, content, and activities in oral communication for the elementary school proffered by speech authorities as found in existing speech methods texts for the elementary school and professional speech literature. These questions are asked: (1) What are the objectives of elementary speech education proffered by authorities? (2) What speech content and activities do speech authorities suggest for elementary school? (3) In what ways do speech authorities agree, vary, or disagree with each other in regard to objectives, content, and activities?
