Abstract

This study was instigated in an effort to determine if these children as a group do tend to deviate in psychological testing results from children who have not developed vocal nodules. Once these findings have been determined, the author wishes to show that neither surgery nor vocal re-education have been successful due to a deeper underlying cause that has not been treated adequately. The purpose, then, of this study is to determine if the psychological problems of these children are hampering their vocal re-education, thus retarding the physical regression of their vocal nodules. The author will discuss any psychological problems in relation to the degree of their vocal abuse.
