Abstract
During the course of this thesis, I shall attempt to show Marquette University's role in the over-all history of American debate. I shall also attempt to evaluate, criticize and interpret the development and evolution of the Marquette University debate squad to its present status. Although the scope of this paper does not permit a detailed history and analysis of the life story--be it success or failure--of every debater that has represented Marquette University. I shall attempt to demonstrate generally that debaters become leaders and enjoy successful lives.
