Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to trace the course of the mathematical "Epsilon -e" as found in mathematics. We shall examine Epsilon as it is used in algebra and in trigonometry--in algebra as an exponential function and in trigonometry as the base of a system of logarithms. We shall then examine the graphic representation of this mathematical symbol as we have it in analytic geometry. Next, we shall study the use of Epsilon as it is found in calculus and in the theory of differential equations. We shall then discuss Epsilon in hyperbolic functions, and briefly indicate its use in higher mathematics and science.
