Abstract
The prime purpose of this experimental work is to correlate any observed changes in the position or the width of a diffraction ring with the amount of elastic strain present in an aluminum rod. Secondary effects, such as the appearance of doublets, will be noted if they are present. It will be assumed that the reader is familiar with the elementary theories of X-rays and crystal structure. The presentation follows in the order in which the research was conducted.
