Abstract
A good description of the physical state of an atom can be obtained from the solution of the Schroedinger Wave equation for that atom. Such a solution was obtained in 1943 for the singly ionized aluminum atom by L. Biermann and H. Harting. The object of this paper is to obtain a solution of the equation for the neutral aluminum atom by means of the Hartree method. The results obtained for the singly ionized atom are used as starting values in obtaining the solution for the neutral atom.
