Abstract
A high level query language is needed which allows nontechnical users to obtain information from the computer easily. Increasingly, data bases are being used by industry for various applications, yet most of the interfaces to these systems are not acceptable. At the time of this thesis, there have been several high level query languages developed for industry. There is considerable research and development occurring in this area. This thesis was written to gain insight into the-design strategies required of a relational high level query language.
