Abstract

Spectrophotemetric titrations of copper with chelating agents in non-aqueous solvents have been the subject of some work in recent years. Considering the possible chelating agents and metals complexed the field is relatively unexplored. Much work remains to be done before important applications of this method may be developed. The purpose of this study was to determine the suitability of salicylaldoxine and diethyldithiocarbamate as titrating agents and of dioxane and n-propyl alcohol, dioxane and water, dioxane and N,N-dimethylformamide and N,N-dimethylformamide as media for these titrations. The effect of the base, triethylamine, upon the completeness of the reaction was also studies.
