Abstract
The author worked for two years in the paper chemistry group of the Organic Materials Research Section at Allis Chalmers Mfg. Co. An interest in the present problem developed while work progressed on an improved insulation paper for electrical apparatus. It was hoped that this research would help to elucidate the problem of cellulose degradation.
