Abstract
The thesis focused on the photochemistry of locally excited and charge transfer states of (E)-4-cyano-4'-(heptamethyltrisilanyl)stilbene and involved the synthesis of the photochemical reactant and following experiments: preparative photolysis; isolation and identification of the photoproducts; deuterium labeling experiments for mechanistic information; fluorescence studies in different solvents and various concentrations of alcohols as quenchers; excited states lifetime determinations. Stern-Volmer type of correlation and solvatochromic plots were used for interpreting the results.
