Abstract
Reactions in which the reactants are solids, are usually not found in the regular work of college chemistry; neither are they a common thing in the industrial and research laboratory. Although studied for at least 25 years, they do not seem to have aroused the interest of more than a few chemists. Little work has been done with the study of the kinetics of these reactions. The work that has been done in the study of these kinetics has been done by means of X-ray diffraction and emanation analysis. The purpose of this project is to devise a method and suitable apparatus from equipment which might readily be found in the chemistry laboratory, and to begin a study of certain solid reaction kinetics.
