Abstract
The origin of this work lies in the attempt to find a use for a discarded oil of a paint company. During the time of war this oil was well disposed or, but it is the peace time that has to find a means to avoid its accumulation and possible waste. The purpose of the investigation undertaken is to determine whether a special raffinate fraction from selective solvent extracted refined linseed oil can be sulfonated. The object of sulfonating this oil is to produce a water emulsifiable or water soluble oil, or more specifically speaking an oil that is miscible in water. If the oil can be sulfonated, then the determinations of moisture and of the organically combined sulfuric anhydride present in the sulfonated oil will be made. The sulfonation of this oil then might find an application for it in some field of industry
