Abstract
Melanin pigmentation has a wide distribution in both the animal and plant worlds. In the vertebrate kingdom the origin of pigment producing cells, the control of pigmentation, and the biochemical mechanisms involved in the synthesis of melanin pigments are some of the problems which have attracted attention. The present investigation represents an attempt to analyze the effect of certain factors on the bio-synthesis of melanin in the skin of the fowl.
