Abstract

Society is expecting Nursing Schools to assume greater and greater responsibilities daily. In response to this challenge the schools are attempting to make adjustments which will enable them better to assume these responsibilities. In all ages there have been experimentation and development of practices, renewed attacks upon old problems, growth and recognition of new issues, and a clearer understanding of procedure that must be followed if the school is to take the place as an Institution of Public Welfare which society expects it to take. In this study an attempt has been made to describe the Nutrition Education Program in Nursing Schools as it now exists, to indicate steps that are being taken to improve practice; to suggest possible changes; and to define problems which stand in the way of advancement.
