Abstract
The study presents a description of the development of a clinical nursing research program in a fifty bed nonprofit skilled nursing home facility in Southeastern Wisconsin. The participants in the study were the health care professionals of the above setting, which represented all levels of nursing (LPN, AD, Diploma and Baccalaureate). Seven phases evolved in the development of the clinical nursing research program: planning of the program, obtaining administrative support, promoting nursing involvement, forming the Nursing Research Committee and the Committee for the Protection of Human Rights, identifying available resources and funding, implementing a research study, and evaluating the program. The program's development evidenced a systematic process characterized by seven dynamic interacting phases conceptualized in a model.
