Abstract
A puppet play was developed to familiarize children between the ages of four and seven with the purpose, the equipment, and the procedures used in the well child health examination. Selected principles of health education and suggestions made by authors who have found puppets to be a useful medium for interacting with children were considered in the development of the play. Guidelines for the production of the play, suggested techniques for reinforcing learning, and a letter to encourage parents to promote this health maintenance behavior were also developed.
