Abstract
This essay, through a literary review, explores the incidence and theoretical basis of fatigue. A conceptual framework incorporates the concept of human response in conjunction with physiological and psychosocial dimensions of fatigue. Recognizing the significant incidence and impact of fatigue on multiple patient populations, a fatigue assessment guide developed from the framework is presented. The essay also examines the relevance of this concept to nursing practice and suggests recommendations for future research.
