Abstract
This essay presents a review of the literature on job satisfaction for nurses, with the purpose of determining the current status of knowledge relating to this concept. The importance of job satisfaction, the theories relating to job satisfaction, as well as an extensive review of research study results dealing with job satisfaction of nurses are examined. Recommendations and implications for nurse administrators and nurse managers are identified, based on the theory and research results presented.
