Abstract
In the past several years a new and clinically useful Intravenous fat emulsion (Lipomul I.V.) has had fairly wide clinical trials. However It has been found that when excessive amounts of this emulsion are used an "overload" syndrome occurs characterized as follows: chill, fever, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, hepatomegaly, clotting defects, thrombocytopenia and gastrointestinal bleeding. It has been our purpose to study this proposed coagulation defect and to determine Its etiology via animal experimentation.
