Abstract
Organic contamination of drinking water is due to the activities of man and nature. Organic matter in water may create taste and odor problems, interfere with coagulation, and cause an increase in the chlorine and carbon demands during the water treatment process. The toxicity to man of organic contaminants found in water is of utmost importance. A survey was conducted of various drinking water supplies in the State of Wisconsin to determine the carbon chloroform extract.
