Abstract
Though zinc phosphate cements are extensively used in dentistry, little is known about the structure, behaviour and properties of their two ingredients - the amorphous phosphate matrix and the crystalline excess zinc oxide. This research concerns itself mainly with the amorphous component which was studied using x-ray diffraction, electron microprobe analysis and density measurement techniques.
