Abstract

This paper is the result of a research project conducted by Dr. K. Lee at Marquette University. The primary objective is to find simple and analytic expressions for various dynamical variables in terms of Bessel functions and their derivatives. First, a brief review of the eigenvalue and eigenfunction problem is given for a square-well potential with an exponentially diffused boundary. The Bessel functions of fractional order and their derivatives with respect to order are then discussed. Finally, the expressions for the expectation values of various dynamical variables are derived.
