Abstract
Two methods of noise generation at M-band (50 - 75 kMc) were tried. They were examined for power output, spectrum shape and width, and randomness. One method involved the modulation of the repeller of a reflex klystron by a low frequency (0 - 5Mc) noise source. This method proved to be successful. The other method involved the modulation of the output of the klystron by passing it through a gas discharge tube. This method was not successful. Measurements were carried out with a swept frequency receiver for frequency and time characteristics and a bolometer for power. The IBM 1620 computer was utilized for the analysis of the data.
