Abstract
Current computer methods for earthwork volume calculations are computerized versions of conventional methods, such as: average end area method, contour method, and the grid corner method. These methods are time-consuming for the computation of earthwork volumes. The purpose of this study is to develop a new numerical computerized method for earthwork volume calculations. In this study, the multiquadric analysis for determining equations of ground surface will be highlighted as well as the accuracy of cut and fill volumes calculated from the conic multiquadric equations.
