Abstract

This study concerns the load bearing and elongation characteristics of the cervical ligaments of the primate spine. The value of such biomechanical studies is obvious when one correlates these studies with research involving spinal cord and vertebral injury. Prevention and treatment of spinal cord damage will be enhanced from greater understanding of the load bearing characteristics of the supportive skeletal tissue.
