Abstract

The experimental studies conducted in this aim to develop a low-cost robot therapy system for home rehabilitation after stroke. This thesis is organized into four main sections: • Background and Analysis (Chapter 1 and Chapter 2) • Design and Development (Chapter 3) • Evaluation (Chapter 4) • Future Direction and Conclusions (Chapter 5) Chapter 1 focuses on motivation behind the existing research. Chapter 2 reviews existing research in the same area and addresses different existing solutions to the proposed problem of home rehabilitation after stroke. Chapter 3: focuses on design and development of the system and technical validation of the system. Chapter 4: focuses on the evaluation of the system using stroke survivors. This chapter also reports on results from the pilot study to prove the acceptance of the system in terms of performance, motivation and compliance. Chapter 5: presents the overall conclusions and future directions of this research.
