Abstract
A robotics system is developed for the solution of the popular puzzle Instant Insanity. A graph theoretical algorithm is developed and programmed in Applesoft BASIC on an Apple IIe microcomputer for the solution of the puzzle. An on-line calculation of a geometric inverse kinematic solution is used to allow open loop control of a Microbot TeachMover robot in terms of absolute cartesian coordinates. The overall system is then optimized to create a coherent package following a systematic approach to the physical manipulation of the puzzle.
