Abstract

A number of simulations were done on the computer for the author to gain insight into NMR spectroscopy. A detailed NMR study of eight human vertebral bodies was done using the Nicolet NT-150 spectrometer. Radiofrequency coils were designed and built to obtain in-vivo quantification of bone mineral in human fingers, palm and wrist. Finally, in-vitro spectra of canine skeletal muscle and canine bone marrow were obtained to study the possible signal interferences present if any, may have on in-vivo bone mineral quantification.
