Abstract

This study has been performed in connection with research at the Laboratory of Sensory-Motor Performance, Veterans Affairs Medical Center Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The main focus is to examine the relation of gait to body structure and weight gain. The project examined the normal gait of young adult women and changes in their gait as a result of weight added to their legs. Various tests of gait were performed. In addition, pendulum motion and body mass measurements were analyzed to model the lower extremity motion of gait. Due to the large number of experiments and trials, only five subjects were consulted. These results could serve as a pilot study for future research entailing a larger, more diverse subject group.
