Abstract
This Thesis investigated the distribution of load among bolts in a timber joint loaded perpendicular to the grain of wood. Studies were conducted using one, two, and three one-half inch bolts in a row with two steel side-plates. A total of 51 Douglas-fir 2 X 8'S by 30 inches in length were tested, with 17 being used for each bolt pattern. The distributions of load among the bolts in both side-plates, the deformations, and the ultimate load were all determined and are presented in tabular and graphical form. The significance of the results are discussed and summarized and conclusions are given.
