Abstract
Louis Pasteur in the play which pictures the story of his life, says, in addressing the members or the Academy, particularly directing his thought to the young men present, in the hope that they will follow him in the field of scientific research, "Live in the serene peace of libraries." I too have devoted many hours to the enjoyment of that serenity, " and thereby, have developed an even greater respect tor the wealth hidden in the printed page. The contact with scholarly minds, enriches, yet humbles. To all those who in the past, have upheld the Speech Tradition through their contributions in their writings, I express my acknowledgement.
