Abstract
This research has been performed under the guidance of Dr. James Rice in the department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering in Marquette University, Wisconsin. This research aims at providing a sound efficient and reliable technique for creating a high quality triangular and quadrilateral mesh on a 3D surface. A newly robust mesh generation methodology is presented in this thesis. A fractal based mesh generation method for creating quadrilateral elements over the given three dimensional domain has been discussed. It tries to determine a computationally efficient 3D surface meshing algorithm. It will locally convert every 2 triangles into a quadrilateral element, so that there will be no isolated triangles left globally. It will have a local refinement function in which the mesh can be refined locally at an arbitrary place where a denser mesh is needed.
