Abstract

This thesis deals with the study of the boundedness of the error between a given (often difficult to solve) system and a suitably chosen approximate system. By forecasting on the boundedness of the error, one could investigate the stability of the original system. This could, in certain cases, provide an easier alternative to the straight solution of the given system, the method that is prevalent at the present time. Looking at the results from another point the contents of this thesis could provide a system for a qualitative study of the approximate system as to how much it resembles the original system. Chapter 1 presents the concepts of stability according to the method of Lyapunov and its application to this thesis. Chapter 2 deals with deductions reached through the use of Taylor's Series. Chapter 3 provides the results approached from Lyapunov's Second Method of Stability. Chapter 4 contains calculations and results of the sample problem tried in this thesis.
