Abstract
This research applies techniques used in facilities design to the design of circuit board layouts . A methodology for defining component closeness relationships was developed and a computer program, PCB FACILITY, was written to generate relative location circuit layouts. Testing on two industrial circuits indicates that facilities design techniques can be useful in generating initial layouts.
