Abstract
This thesis applies a new approach to analyze Internet search engine results. We categorize the Internet search engine results, and show their similarities in a two dimensional map. This thesis is organized into four parts. First, there are brief reviews of the basic ideas and concepts of Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) and Fuzzy Logic (FL) technologies. Then, we present a method that combines ANNs and FL to categorize the websites returned by a search engine and explain what the websites in each cluster are about. After that, a Kohonen Feature Map offers a clear display of the similarities between the websites. A two dimensional image makes it easy to understand these similarities. Finally, we compare the results of our research and the results from The Yahoo search engine. In the latter part of this thesis, an example is employed to show our method.
