Abstract
This investigation involved the development of a process of determining the unknown initial state of a high altitude balloon. The process was developed by employing the output of the system mathematical model in conjunction with the output from the instrumentation system. The required mathematical model has already been developed for use with the system simulation process. Once the initial conditions are known the attitude of the balloon can be determined.
