Abstract
It is the purpose of this thesis to report on a new phenomenon concerning frequency multiplication characteristics of avalanching diodes. In order to verify the observed phenomenon a series of experimental setups were constructed. Several proposed equivalent circuit models are examined both theoretically and experimentally to determine which one best describes the phenomenon. Through the introduction of avalanche breakdown and its behavioral effects on the capacitance associated with a p-n junction diode is also studied.
