Abstract

This thesis is concerned with Human Factors Engineering with a particular emphasis on a statistical approach to determining human operator performance in a one-degree of freedom tracking situation. A linear time varying model is used to obtain a meaningful mathematical representation of the subject's performance. Statistical analysis is applied to eliminate transient variation in human operator response and to obtain an average representation of the operator's performance. The main emphasis is placed on the usefulness and consistency of the statistical results.
