Abstract
In recent years, the use of metal plate connected parallel-chord wood trusses has expanded from residential use to include commercial, industrial, and institutional uses. Long span 4x2 parallel-chord trusses are now seeing very high joint forces, and large metal connector plates are required to transfer these forces. In many cases, these plates are larger than the wood of the joints that they are connecting.
