Abstract

The main purpose of this thesis is to study the problem of designing an isolator for a balloon gondola system which is subjected to shock input upon landing. In particular, the validity of the one-degree-of-freedom idealization for the system is studied by comparing the results predicted by this model to results predicted by a more complicated two-degree-of-freedom idealized system.
