Abstract
The motivation of this thesis is to explore one of the variables associated with measuring the cutting efficiency of endodontic files. In two recent studies done at Marquette University School of Dentistry by deGuzman and Frick, the variables of load and stroke rate were evaluated. This study involves comparing two common substrates used in previous cutting efficiency studies, bovine bone and acrylic blocks. The ultimate goal of evaluating the variables associated with cutting efficiency studies is to recommend a standard by which endodontic files can be compared. At this point, no such standard exists.
