Abstract
Three commonly used orthodontic techniques for direct bonding of metal brackets to tooth enamel were compared in this study. Each bonded bracket was stressed to failure in tension and this measurement was recorded. The bracket was then examined to determine exactly what interface failed the enamel-bonding agent, the bonding agent to bonding agent in the case of the two-step system, and finally the bonding agent-bracket interface. The results using forty- five extracted premolar teeth were statistically analyzed using an analysis of variance.
