Abstract
The lateral condensation technique for root canal obturation is often times less than ideal due to the presence of voids/interfaces between gutta percha cones, sealer and dentinal walls. Recently, new delivery systems have been introduced which claim to reduce or eliminate these discrepancies by heating the gutta percha into a homogenous mass. This study evaluated three (3) thermoplasticized gutta percha obturation techniques in comparison to lateral condensation, utilizing the proven electrochemical method for analysis.
