Abstract
Neuralgia may be defined as a functional disturbance of a nerve with paroxysmal pain. No appearance of the disease can be detected. The pain that is present must be regarded as a symptom of an irritation not located, - it is not the disease
itself.
There are, however, inflammatory changes called neuritis which may exist with neuralgia, but this condition usually soon subsides. In true neuralgia, paroxysmal pain predominates..
