Abstract
The selection of a subject in Proctology which would be of value, fulfill the thesis requirements and still be simple enough that investigation could be carried on, was a difficult problem. The subject of "Cytologic Diagnosis of Malignancy" seemed to meet these requirements. Little had been published on this subject in relation to the colon and rectum and since the importance of earlier diagnosis of colorectal malignancy is stressed by so many authorities, a work which might aid in solving this problem is worthwhile.
