Abstract
The work reported in this paper is a further contribution to the general investigation of the solubility relations of fluorine-containing organic compounds that has been going on for many years. Ibis class of compounds has held the attention of chemists for a long time because of the unusual and often unexpected properties which the fluorine atom gives to the molecule.
It is desired to investigate the mutual solubilities of para-fluoroaniline and the various isomers of hexane. In addition, it is desired to determine whether such a system will give a solubility curve showing a critical solution temperature.
The earliest work along this line was done in 1917 by J. H. Hildebrand and his co-workers, when they examined the aniline-hexane system (10). The temperature versus mole fraction diagram of the system gave a consolute temperature in the neighborhood of 60°C.
