Abstract
There has been no problem in the present day that has been more widely discussed by the dental profession and even the general public than that of tooth decay. When we speak of pathology of any type be it caries deformins or any variation from the normal in the hard tissue of the oral cavity, it necessarily implies that we have an understanding of the normal, and the proscesses [sic] of vital activity which influence this normal. In order to solve the problems of dental decay we must gain a thorough knowledge of the activities and changes experienced in dental enamel during the life of the individual.
