Abstract
Nicotine is one of the most common alkaloids, occurring principally in tobacco and allied plants. Its estimation in tobacco presents a number of very interesting problems. The percentage of nicotine in tobacco, for instance, varies considerably, ranging from 0.6% to 8%. In general, the better grades of tobacco contain the smaller amounts of the alkaloid.
