Abstract
Since 1941 when amniotic fluid pulmonary embolism was first described, many authors on this subject have suggested that anaphylactic shock is responsible for the fatal outcome of this syndrome. It is the purpose of this thesis to disprove this theory and to demonstrate that it is the embolism itself which is productive of death.
